WHO/WHAT: If “I already took care of it” is your personality trait, this may be your dream role. These high-achieving, personable parents are searching for a proactive household manager/nanny who genuinely enjoys bringing calm, order, and warmth to a bustling home. Mom is a powerhouse in her career and also deeply kind, collaborative, and appreciative of excellent help. Mom’s demanding career often requires travel, so this family deeply values someone dependable who can confidently help keep life running smoothly. Dad works locally, but outside of the home. Mom and Dad are partners in balancing the responsibilities of active parenting while supporting one another’s professional careers. Their current nanny has been with them for seven years — a relationship built on trust, transparency, and teamwork — and they’re hoping to find that kind of long-term fit again.
This role is much more household-management-forward than traditional nannying during the school year. You’ll help keep the home running smoothly behind the scenes: unloading the dishwasher, staying on top of laundry, tidying and organizing spaces, grocery shopping, running errands, prepping lunches, coordinating dry cleaning or prescriptions, vacuuming and sweeping, and making simple family dinners so Mom and Dad can walk into an exhale at the end of the day. If you naturally notice that the pantry needs restocked, the sports uniforms need washed, or tomorrow’s lunches should probably be packed before dinner, you may be exactly who this family is looking for. Afterschool, the role shifts toward helping the kids transition home from school and activities while managing homework, backpacks, sports schedules, carpools, and the general rhythm of busy kid life. Looking for closer to full-time hours? The family can offer additional administrative hours supporting Mom’s nonprofit for a candidate who enjoys staying busy and wearing multiple hats.
The children are active, social, and genuinely delightful. Their oldest daughter is artistic and thoughtful, their middle son is a full-speed-ahead adventure seeker usually sporting skinned knees from neighborhood bike rides, and the youngest proudly describes herself as “strong and powerful” — which perfectly captures her big imagination and love for Barbies and art projects. This family lives in one of Pittsburgh’s most charming neighborhoods, filled with parks, shops, and neighborhood friends constantly coming and going. Grandparents live nearby and are wonderfully supportive. Summers shift into a more childcare-focused role, typically around 8:30 AM–5 PM, spent keeping the kids active, engaged, outdoors, and off screens.
THE IDEAL NANNY IS…PROACTIVE. You’re the type of person who mentally keeps a running checklist without needing reminders. You notice when the fridge is low, when the sports bag needs repacked, or when tomorrow’s calendar needs a second look. You’re organized, trustworthy, emotionally mature, and dependable to your core. You understand how to balance warmth with authority, and you’re comfortable holding kids accountable in a loving, respectful way.
This family does not want a passive nanny. They want a teammate. Someone who communicates openly, takes initiative naturally, and truly becomes woven into the rhythm of family life. You genuinely enjoy keeping a household running smoothly, you’re confident managing multiple moving pieces at once, and you take pride in creating calm within busy environments. Most importantly, you’re looking for a role where you can stay for years — building meaningful relationships with wonderful children and supportive parents who deeply value the person helping hold their world together. If you’ve ever wished there was a job description for “professional life smoother,” congratulations — you found it.
