WHO/WHAT: What matters most in this role? Knowing their son is safe, cared for, and covered—always. This family will guarantee 40 hours of pay every week—even though their typical childcare needs will be far less—because when it comes to their son, dependable isn't a nice-to-have. It's everything. Mom and Dad are both physicians beginning demanding new positions with no family nearby; they're looking for something more valuable than simply an after-school nanny. They want to find their person. The one who can grab their six-year-old from school if he's unexpectedly sick at 11 am, handle the normal 4:30 pm pickup, or stay a little later on the rare evening when two physicians simply cannot walk out of work on time. In exchange for that level of commitment, they're willing to guarantee 40 hours of pay—even though they expect their nanny will very rarely actually work all 40.
Their son attends school just minutes from home, so you'll help bookend his days—starting with wake-up, breakfast, and driving him to school, then jumping back in around 4:30 pm when his activities wrap up. In between, you'll have a mix of household support and built-in freedom. Help with laundry, meal prep, groceries, or organization, but also enjoy the flexibility to run your own errands, tackle schoolwork, make an appointment, or simply have some downtime while staying available if the family needs you. After school, you'll handle pickup, snack, homework or activities, dinner, and hanging out until Mom or Dad gets home around 7 pm. Their son is bright, affectionate, energetic, and endlessly curious—the kind of kid who can happily disappear into a puzzle but also wants to know everything there is to know about dinosaurs, animals, math, and geography. He loves building, being outside, and spending time with the people he loves.
These parents aren't looking to squeeze 40 hours of busywork out of someone simply because they're paying for them. They’re hoping to find someone who naturally looks around and asks, “What would be helpful today?” Think children's laundry, dishes, grocery runs, light dinner prep, household organization, or noticing that one little thing that would make two busy parents walk through the door and think, “Ahhh, that's already taken care of.” There will also be days, (1-3 a month) when the best use of those hours is simply being available. A school closure. A sick day. An early dismissal. A change in Mom or Dad's schedule. This position won't work well alongside another job during the family's guaranteed hours, because the whole reason they're guaranteeing full-time pay is so their son's care is one thing they never have to worry about. They’ve found “their person” before—the kind of nanny who becomes family—and they’re hoping to find them again for this next four+ year chapter.
THE IDEAL NANNY IS…ROCK-SOLID RELIABLE. If you say you'll be there, this family never wonders whether you actually will be. You're punctual, communicative, honest, level-headed, and equipped with the kind of common sense that can't really be taught. When plans change, you don't panic. When both parents are stuck at work, you're the calm person they know has everything handled. You're someone who takes ownership. You don't take advantage of a family that trusts you with significant flexibility; you look for ways to return that trust. If there's laundry to fold, dinner ingredients to chop, groceries to grab, or a household system that could use a reset, you're happy to jump in. And when their son needs you, everything else can wait—because you understand that being his person is the most important part of your job. You don't necessarily need decades of nanny experience. Warmth, good judgment, honesty, flexibility, and genuine care for children matter enormously to these parents. They want someone who can be playful enough to build Legos on the floor, responsible enough to handle the unexpected, and trustworthy enough that two parents can focus on their patients knowing the most important person in their world is completely taken care of.
For the right person, this is a pretty remarkable setup: full-time guaranteed pay, a flexible schedule, and a family that understands exactly what that kind of dependable availability is worth. If you're looking for a family to truly invest in—and you want them to invest just as deeply in you—we'd love to meet you. APPLY TODAY!
