WHO/WHAT: Every now and then, we make an exception. Not because the role is different. Because the people are. While East Wind Nannies is known for connecting exceptional nannies with wonderful families with young children, ocassionaly we meet a family so special that we're excited to step outside our usual lane. This exceptional couple has been married for nearly 40 years, they've intentionally built a wonderful team around them, and now they're looking for one more exceptional caregiver to join. One member of that team has happily been with them for nearly five years, which probably tells you everything you need to know about how people are treated here.

You'll partner with an accomplished university leader who continues to work, travel, cook, and stay actively involved in the things he loves. Because a neuromuscular condition has limited his mobility, you'll help with routines, dressing, showering, transportation (a vehicle that is wheelchair-equipped is provided), exercise, meal preparation (the couple is pescatarian), and the everyday tasks that allow him to continue living life on his terms. You'll also pitch in around the home with laundry, vacuuming, sweeping, and whatever else helps the household run smoothly.

You'll be joining an established caregiving team, so while your schedule will generally follow Wednesday through Sunday afternoons (2:00–7:00 p.m.), you’ll have flexibility to pick up additional daytime hours or the occasional overnight when needed. Most weeks won't total a full 40 hours, allowing for a schedule that offers both consistency and flexibility.

Not a fan of Pittsburgh winters? Neither are they. Each year, they escape to their Florida condos (usually January/February) and would love for you to join them for those 8 weeks. They even bring in additional caregiving support while they're there, which means you'll have plenty of time to enjoy the beach, sunshine, your own personal condo set aside for caregivers, and a little Florida living yourself.

Before you picture a highly medical role, don't. Their home has been thoughtfully designed with lifts, an elevator, and adaptive equipment that make daily routines surprisingly manageable. In fact, they've found that kindness, initiative, and common sense matter far more than a medical background. He has a fantastic sense of humor. She genuinely loves getting to know people. Together, they've created a home where caregivers are appreciated, trusted, and treated like valued teammates—not just employees. If you're simply looking for a paycheck, this probably isn't your job. But if you're the kind of person who naturally invests in people and believes caregiving is about relationships just as much as responsibilities, we think you'll absolutely thrive here. This family has a long history of caring well for the people who care for them.

THE IDEAL TEAMMATE naturally notices what needs to be done. You simply jump in because that's how you're wired. You're dependable, punctual, adaptable, and organized, and you take pride in being someone others can count on. You'll be joining an established team of caregivers who genuinely support one another, so you're happy to communicate and do your part to help the day run smoothly.

Just as importantly, you're someone people genuinely enjoy being around. You appreciate a good sense of humor, can laugh with people instead of simply working around them, and understand that meaningful caregiving is just as much about building relationships as it is about completing responsibilities. You're trustworthy, full of common sense, willing to learn, and naturally look for ways to make someone else's day a little easier. Whether your background is in caregiving, social work, education, or somewhere else entirely, this family cares far more about the person you are than the title on your résumé. If you're looking for meaningful work with people who will truly appreciate you, we have a feeling you'll love it here. Apply today!
